The Finance and Administration Committee advises ASTEF staff on financial decisions of the Board.
- Leadership Fund: Funds a leadership seminar held in odd-numbered years and/or an advanced leadership seminar if funding is available.
- Income Source: Member contributions and return on investment
- Scholarship Fund: Funds scholarships and grants to members
- Income Source: Yearly scholarship fee paid with dues, contributions and return on investment
- Project Funds: Funds activities that support professional and personal growth of women educators In Texas and promotes educational excellence for Texas students.
- Income Source: Contributions, grants and interest earned
Restricted vs. Unrestricted Funds
Restricted/Endowed funds are funds that cannot be used. The unrestricted funds are those that we use to provide our Scholarships, Leadership training, and projects that are awarded each year.
Scholarship Fund
Restricted/Endowed Amount $1,200,000 is the part of the fund that cannot be used. The unrestricted funds are those that are gathered from contributions by Chapters, individual donations and interest earned on restricted funds. The Scholarship Committee request funds to be awarded each year for individual scholarships.
Leadership Fund
Restricted/Endowed Amount is $75,000. The unrestricted funds for Leadership come from Chapter donations, individuals and interest earned on restricted funds. The Leadership Committee request funds to be used every other year for Leadership Management Seminar.
Project Fund
Restricted/Endowed Amount is $50,000. The unrestricted funds for projects come from Chapter donations, individuals, and interest earned on restricted funds, Money also comes from auctions, Giving Month and other fundraising events sponsored by Alpha State Texas Educational Foundation. This fund provides the funds awarded for grants for chapter and individual projects.
