ASTEF-GOTTA DO ACTIVITIES AT CONVENTION
JUST THE FACTS, MA'AM Are you headed to Denton for the 95th TSO Convention on Tuesday, June 24 through Thursday, June 26, 2025 and you need some fun yet inspiring activities out of the norm? ASTEF’s got you covered, Sister. Here’s a rundown on nine ASTEF functions you don’t want to miss.
Basketfuls of wonders await at the Silent Auction of Baskets. Filled by TSO members with loads of tempting goodies, the auction benefiting ASTEF runs from Tuesday at 10 a.m. through Wednesday at 4 pm. This year there is a Claim NOW for $100 and sold option, so get your bids in early. Look for the Silent Auction in the Convention Center vendor area. It’s open to all and free to look.
Mystery Mania, one of ASTEF’s most popular games, is set for Tuesday only. Pay $10 for one chance to win a gift card valued from $10 to $100. Pay $20 and double your chances. Find Mystery Mania in the Convention Center vendor area.
Arms Length Ticket Sales - Available all day Tuesday June 24 and on Wednesday June 25 from 8-8:30 a.m. right before the ASTEF Annual Business Meeting–This oldie but goodie activity features ASTEF directors dressed in pocketed aprons selling tickets around the convention center. One ticket costs $1 or buy 20 tickets (arm length) for $5. Two winners receive free registration at upcoming Regional Conferences. Winners will be announced at the ASTEF Annual Business Meeting.

ASTEF’s Annual Business Meeting - Wednesday, June 25, 8:30-10 a.m. If you think this is another boring meeting, you’ve got another think coming. Not only will you be in the know about what ASTEF’s been up to the past two years, but you’ll get to meet new directors, honor those rotating off, and find out who gets those ever popular project stipend awards. You’ll get loads of excitement, and it’s totally free.
Hang around after the Business Meeting on Wednesday for a Birthday Bash Celebration like no other for ASTEF’s 15th Birthday. It starts at 10:30 and is open to all free of charge. Surprises and excitement abound in this don’t miss, never to be repeated event.
In case you are still in the celebrating mood, TSO’s Birthday Luncheon is next on Wednesday. ASTEF’s Advocate for Education will be announced at the luncheon. Don’t take a siesta after the luncheon because you won’t want to miss ASTEF’s Ticketed Event ($25 on your convention registration form.) Dave Lieber, political watchdog, columnist, speaker, and author delivers a standup style presentation that will leave audiences laughing. Door prizes will include some of the author’s books, which will also be available for purchase after the ticketed event.
If you’re still in shopping mode after checking out Dave’s books, don’t miss Kendra Scott’s Pop-Up Shop also in the vendor area. Kendra’s jewelry is always a popular attraction at the convention, and she’s sure to have some great deals for us to ooh and ahh over. She’ll be in the vendor area from 2:30 until 5 p.m. on Wednesday the 25th.

Are you someone who loves the beauty of handmade quilts? (And who isn’t?) Check out the gorgeous quilt being raffled to benefit ASTEF. Visit The Quilt Raffle display in the convention center vendor area and purchase your tickets.
Last but not least, ASTEF’s Marketing Committee will present a Marketing Breakout Session on Thursday, June 26, at 1 p.m.* You’ll learn things about ASTEF you never knew in a new and exciting format. You’ll be bribed with candy for paying attention and will leave amazed at what you’ve learned.

Gift cards are needed for the 2025 Mystery Mania ASTEF fundraiser!
ASTEF plans to offer Mystery Mania twice on Tuesday, June 24. We typically collect over 200 gift cards and sell out quickly. We would love to collect even more this year! How it works: Send your gift cards to Kimbra Bishop, 888 Alexander Road, Olney, TX 76374. Card values can range between $10-$100. Send them in a greeting card so that it looks like regular mail. Include your email so that we can send you a thank you and let you know your card(s) have been received. GIFT BASKETS PLEASE!

To provide that support ASTEF is asking for chapters, members, groups of members, groups of chapters, groups of officers, any and every one to provide gift baskets for the TSO Convention Silent Auction. The mission of Alpha State Texas Educational Foundation is
ASTEF members may apply for a Texas State Organization (TSO) state scholarship; participate in leadership events; and apply for project stipends.
- to provide funding for activities that support professional and personal growth of women educators in Texas, and
- to promote educational excellence for Texas students.
