The purpose of the Aspiring Educator Grant is to further the education of a woman who wants to become a teacher. The candidate is eligible if she is not presently a member of DKG, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree, AND/OR is enrolled in a Texas teacher alternative certification program. The applicant MUST be sponsored by a TSO member. This year, grant dollars have been increased due to the generosity of DKG members, The grant guidelines and application can be accessed at www.astef.org/forms. If you know someone that wants to go into education, consider getting this information to her.
Applications are due March 15, 2026 Below is a button for the updated ASTEF Brochure. It has information and photos from the Denton Convention.

ASTEF is seeking individual members, chapters, coordinating councils, or areas that want to seize the opportunity to create exciting learning opportunities for students and educators for the 2026-27 school year.
Look for creative avenues for active participation with members and support projects for children of all ages in your community. Think outside the box and design a project that benefits Texas educators and students. Maybe you are currently doing a project that would qualify. ASTEF has money to help with those projects. Members are encouraged to preview the Project Stipend Guidelines and Application at www.astef.org/forms. There are several documents on this page to help you with the filing process. There is a new document which lists the information you will need to fill out the application form. All of these documents are there to help you but if you need to ask a specific question, please notify Cookee Johnson at [email protected] or if you have a tech question, please notify Andrea Fox at [email protected]. We are so excited for another year of stipend winners and look forward to receiving your application. Applications are due April 1, 2026 Hey Girlfriend,
It’s been a month of Sundays since I wrote to you, and February is creeping up on us like a knock off pair of designer jeans. Since you’re on my Need to Know list for all things ASTEF, you gotta know about the newest Opportunity to Give (AKA February contribution month.) I’m coming in through the back door, but you remember my Grandpa Otis Henry, right? He was the oldest living Elvis impersonator, a big deal every February at the assisted living facility. Even though he was 80, tone deaf, and needed a walker, Gramps showed his love for The King (and the ladies) by performing one or more luuuuve songs every Friday of February. Here’s my Elvis impersonator version of ASTEF goings-on. click here If you have missed a Hey Girlfriend entry, look at the bottom of the Girlfriend page. We are archiving them so you won't miss one. |
