BETA EPSILON REPORT
In June 2021, the Beta Epsilon Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International received an ASTEF Grant for continuation of their project Take Along Bags. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Situations in the last few years have caused many families to struggle to make ends meet and purchase items that most people consider to be necessities. This project was designed to help students who are struggling to meet their daily hygiene needs.
Members used their own monies and the $350 ASTEF Grant to purchase toiletries and snack items. These items were packaged in plastic bags and given to the CISD nurse to distribute to first through twelfth grade students who needed a little extra help to make their daily lives easier. Some of the items packed into the bags included shampoo, body soap, deodorant, shaving cream and razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes, mouthwash, lotion, powder, hand sanitizer, and snacks.
Seventy total bags were packed and delivered during the 2021 – 2022 school year. Bags were packed and distributed in October, February, and May.
