Weekender Schedule at a Glance
Listed below is a tentative schedule for the upcoming Weekender. Times are approximate for Saturday and Sunday.
Friday, April 5
Check- in at Hotel/Welcome Reception
Normal check-in is at 3:00 p.m. Those arriving early may be able to check-in depending on room availability at the time.
Be sure to register, get your name tag, pick up your Welcome bags, and enjoy a drink and small snack. Thanks to Judy Mezick for arranging the Welcome Reception.

6:00 p.m. Welcome Dinner/Program at the hotel (Ballroom)
7:30 p.m. First Friday in Downtown Bryan
Every First Friday downtown Bryan opens their doors for a street fair. Shops are open late and many vendors offer their wares. The historic Queen Theatre opens their doors and shows a vintage movie. Parking is limited. The hotel has also offered the use of their shuttle with the last shuttle leaving Bryan at 11:00 p.m. The shuttle holds 12 but will run as many times as we need. Those not wanting to attend can
enjoy a glass of wine, a beer, or soft drink in the Bistro open until 11:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 6
7:30 to 8:45 a.m. Breakfast Buffet in small room off of Bistro
9:15 a.m. Load buses for the day – We will not be back until around 6:00 p.m. so plan ahead please. We will have water on the buses and a small snack.
9:30 a.m. George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum – self guided tour
11:45 a.m. Board buses for lunch
12:00 p.m. Lunch at Café Eccell – there will be three choices with one being vegetarian
1:30 p.m Head to the Antique Rose Emporium – tour, shopping, out buildings to explore, and a great place for photos. We will take a group photo in the gardens before leaving. There is some walking but how much you do is up to you. There are uneven surfaces in the garden. There will be plenty of room on the bus, so shop all you want. There is also a pub located in the gardens. They serve complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks and water.
3:00 p.m. Head to Messina Hof Winery
If we have time and the weather is good, we might stop at the Master Gardener gardens and gazebo. If we cannot take a group photo at the Emporium, we will take one here.
Enjoy the views of the country along our route to the winery. This includes one of Texas’ largest turf fields and other fields supported by Texas A & M students.
4:50 p.m. Messina Hof Winery Tour and Tasting
See the entire operation, from the vines to the bottle. After the guided tour, a four-wine tasting is in store for us and we can keep our glass! The tasting room will also be open for anyone wishing to purchase wine.
6:00ish Arrive back at the hotel
Dinner on your own. Many suggestions will be given as well as a map. There is one restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. The Bistro inside the hotel also offers limited dinner options for purchase. University Drive, a short distance away, has just about anything you can imagine.
Sunday, April 7
7:30 to 8:45 a.m. Buffet Breakfast
You will be asked to check out of your room before we leave for the morning. Barbara will be in the lobby collecting keys before we board.
9:00 a.m. Board buses for a campus tour
We will see Kyle Field, The Bonfire Memorial, the Ring, the Memorial Student Center,and the Flag room. The Student Center is home to two galleries: Forsyth Galleries and J. Wayne Stark Galleries. The Forsyth Gallery hosts the world’s most extraordinary collection of Cameo Glass. The Stark Galleries focus on American paintings, prints, drawings, and photographs from the 19th and 20th Century. Also, on display at the Center is the Medal of Honor Display that pays tribute to the University’s military background and lists Aggies who have received this tremendous honor. The bookstore should be open so you can purchase your Aggie gear
Please note: You will not be able to see it all. Please have in mind which gallery you would like to see before we arrive to maximize your time at the Center. We will also stop at the Bonfire Memorial. A history of the bonfire and the importance of each design element of the Memorial will be given on the bus before you get out to explore.
11:00 to 11:30 a.m. Arrive back at Hotel
11:45 a.m. Box Lunch/Evaluations/ Farewell Gathering/Awards
12:30 p.m. Good-bye Hugs
