ETA ALPHA MID YEAR REPORT
Eta Alpha’s project is the Panhandle Crisis Center located in Perryton, Texas. The crisis center serves sexual assault and domestic violence victims in Ochiltree, Lipscomb and Hansford counties. It depends on community support and donations from clubs, organizations and individuals in these counties.
Upon receipt of the stipend, the money was allocated in the following ways. In September, $50 was spent on school supplies. In October, $50 was spent on art supplies for advocates from the crisis center that work with children connected with the crisis center at the schools in these three counties. In November, $400 was spent on angel tree gifts. The members of Eta Alpha chapter were divided into three committees and the money was given to each committee to shop for the needed items. The members who chose to participate shopped for the designated items and delivered them to the crisis center. Eta Alpha chapter had 19 out of 34 members participate in the project.
The crisis center reported that 87 children and 128 families had been served this fall. The members of Eta Alpha chapter are grateful to ASTEF for the money they received. The members of Eta Alpha chapter believe that the crisis center provides a very important service to the communities in these counties and serves some of the most vulnerable children and families living in this area
