KAPPA LAMBDA REPORT
The Kappa Lambda Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma completes the third year of a grant to assist students and teachers at Success High School, an alternative application-based high school for students in grades 9-12 in Round Rock ISD. The stipend was granted from Alpha State Texas Education Foundation, the non-profit arm of Delta Kappa Gamma. Over the three years with the grant, Kappa Lambda members have assisted the students and teachers at this school to promote educational excellence. Kappa Lambda has worked with the school since its inception stepping in to serve as a PTA does for most school. The first two years of the ASTEF grant COVID closed most of the school and the monies were used to buy snacks, easy-to-prepare foods for the students plus formula, snacks, and diapers for the childcare center at the school. Members continue to donate casual business clothes to the school for student’s use at job interviews, attend job fairs (as appropriate), and celebrate teachers with special appreciation days. In spring of 2021, Kappa Lambda was voted Volunteer of the Year by the faculty of the school. In the words of Jerrod Gertsema, the new principal at Success H S –“KL played a significant role in helping to maintain a high staff morale…their consistent support has helped the transition of leadership for me …and ensure the needs of our students are addressed.”
