lambda alpha  end of year report

The Lambda Alpha Chapter used their ASTEF funds and monies collected from their membership, as well as funds from our craft sales to purchase student books for two elementary schools in the SBISD school district. The chapter targeted schools that were low socio-economic with little PTA support to provide books for two grade levels for each school. Along with providing students with books, the chapter also decided to provide books for classroom teachers. Lessons and activities for the selected teacher titles were also provided. The children at the two schools were excited to select their own book, write their name in their book and take the book home as a “forever book.” This program supports the district’s reading program by providing books for students identified as “at risk” children. The Lambda Alpha chapter plans to continue this program in the future.
