ASTEF PROJECT STIPENDS
ASTEF provides stipends to DKG chapters, coordinating councils, areas, and individual members in Texas for projects that support the professional and personal growth of educators in Texas and promote educational excellence for Texas students, including disadvantaged students. Projects benefit the education community such as children, students, classrooms, schools, families of students, teachers and other educators, preservice teachers, etc. Because ASTEF is a public charity and serves TSO DKG members as well as non-members, projects that serve teachers and other educators include men and women educators in the provision of all services and activities. ASTEF receives tax-deductible contributions for the Projects Fund, conducts fundraising activities to raise additional money to help pay for Project Stipends, invests and accounts for those funds, and makes payments to the Project Stipend recipients selected by the ASTEF Programs Committee. Visit the “Forms” Tab to view the Project Stipend Application Guide, which includes the guidelines and requirements, and to access the current Project Stipend Application. Currently there is one application cycle per year, and applications are due on April 1. |

SEEKING GRANTS
ASTEF, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, seeks to identify available grants that support ASTEF’s mission in supporting professional and personal growth of women educators in Texas and promoting educational excellence for Texas students.
It is anticipated that ASTEF may seek grants that provide additional funds for Project Stipends, for leadership opportunities for DKG women in Texas, and potentially additional funds for scholarships for women in Texas. Potential grantors may include corporations, private foundations, and federal or state government that provide grants for education that may help ASTEF meet its mission.
Current and past directors of the ASTEF Board, as well as any DKG member in Texas, or any advocate of ASTEF, are encouraged to notify the ASTEF Vice President of Programs at [email protected] should a grant become available that might assist ASTEF in carrying out its mission.
