September 8, 2020 - Annual Meeting & First Class of Directors
A highlight of each year’s TSO Convention is the ASTEF Annual Meeting. Here is where the work of the Foundation for that year really shines. Some of the highlights of this important meeting are the announcement and acceptance of the ASTEF Advocate for Education and the awarding of the Project Stipends often followed by cheers and tears from those receiving funding. On odd numbered years, an election is held to name the new class of directors who will serve a six-year term and the Executive Committee is announced.
This summer in Denton a new class of directors will be elected. Have you considered being an ASTEF Director? Guidelines and the application will be on the ASTEF website in mid-October.
Did you know that the First Annual Meeting was held during the McAllen Convention on June 25, 2011 with ASTEF President Jean Webb presiding? Also, at this meeting the first class of directors were elected to join the Founding Directors in building the newly formed Foundation. These directors included: Carolyn Adkins, Virginia Bowers, Carolyn Grantham, Andi Kirby, Carolyn Mashburn, Shirley Owens, and Jean Robinson.
This meeting and the election of the first directors signaled the challenge for all TSO members to learn, grow, and support the newly founded Foundation. “A Decade of Making Dreams Come True” had begun!
